Mission

We are a diverse collective of people living with health conditions, health workers and trainees, and organizers in New York City building power to advance health justice.

Vision

We envision a society where healthcare is universal, accessible, and grounded in justice for the most marginalized and oppressed. We endeavor to bring about a just future for health in New York achieved through building a mass movement based in the collective power of the people and not dictated by profit.

Points of Unity

We are united by the following core principles :

  • We oppose the corporatization of healthcare and create a universal healthcare system that serves the people, not profit

  • We oppose intensifying militarization within healthcare institutions and build a system rooted in the belief that access to quality healthcare is a human right

  • We oppose and fight against white supremacy and patriarchy within and outside healthcare institutions and center those who are most impacted by systemic oppression

  • We recognize that healthcare workers, advocates, and community members are at the core of building collective power

  • International solidarity: more equal distribution of health resources, outcomes, immigrant patients & researchers not having visas revoked. Explicitly Anti-genocide

To achieve our vision, we aim to:

  • Build capacity and leadership skills among members and strengthen internal structures within the coalition to ensure meaningful engagement and maximize power as a health justice movement

  • Preserve and expand health-promoting opportunities, resources, and services for people most affected by health injustice through building political power around health

  • Engage and agitate healthcare workers, patient advocates, and our local communities in the struggle through political and health education and practical skillshares

  • Build resilient networks and infrastructure to support, protect, and advocate for marginalized and vulnerable members of our community

  • Cultivate relationships with other movements through coalition building

History

We have grown out of the combined past efforts of organizations including New York Doctors Coalition and Health Care Workers for Zohran.
